IFE Level 2 Certificate in Fire Science, Operations and Safety
INTRODUCTION
The International Safety Training Centre in Collaboration with The Institute of Fire Engineers is offering IFE Level 2 Certificate in Fire Science, Operations and Safety for fire professionals. The content and structure of the qualification has been established to reflect best professional practice and covers key knowledge and understanding in the areas of fire engineering science, fire service operations and fire safety.
AIMS OF THE QUALIFICATION
The IFE Level 2 Certificate in Fire Science, Operations and Safety (VRQ) has been designed to enable individuals to demonstrate a wide range of critical knowledge and understanding relevant to the role of firefighter. Success in the qualification will enable individuals to demonstrate that they can apply their knowledge and skills to provide solutions in diverse fire and rescue situations.
Course content
The qualification consists of one unit, Fire Science, Operations and Fire Safety. The unit is divided into three sections and several other sub-sections as indicated below:
1. Fire Engineering Science
- a) Mathematics
- b) Physical properties of matter
- c) Mechanics
- d) Heat
- e) Hydraulics
- f) Chemistry
- g) Electricity
2. Fire Service Operations
- a) Incident command system
- b) Search and Rescue
- c) Fire fighting
- d) Ventilation and salvage
- e) Equipment and Appliances
3. Fire Safety
- a) Elements of construction
- b) Fire safety Practice
- c) Fixed Installations
Examining Body
The examining Body is the Institute of Fire Engineers which also gives certification upon successful completion of the Programme.
Candidates who are successful in achieving the Level 2 Certificate will have developed knowledge and understanding that will prepare them to undertake further study.
Duration
The entire Programme will be covered within 183 contact hours of study. The student shall here by select their preferred mode of study as below:
1. Evening classes – 5.30 pm- 7.30 pm (mon-fri)
2. Weekend classes – 8.00 am – 4 pm (sat)

Tuition fee- 30,000
Books – 8,500
Exam – 8,000
